School-based learning services can be accessed through the School Principal.
Service | Description | To Access The Service |

School Based Teams (SBT) | A School Based Team (SBT) is an on-going collaborative problem- solving unit of school personnel. The SBT meets regularly to assist classroom and/or subject teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies that support student learning. | The Classroom Teacher or School Principal may make a referral to the School Based Team. |
Student Services Teachers (SST) | The Student Service Teacher plays an active role in the identification, assessment, planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation process. They are a key member of the school based team, provides collaborative consultation, assists with pre-referral interventions and works closely with teachers and the school based team to plan for, organize and access support services for students with special needs. | The Classroom Teacher or School Principal may engage the services of the Student Services Teacher. |
School Counsellors | Counsellors provide support services to students, parents, and school staff. They advise on educational issues, career planning and personal development. Counsellors may teach: regular courses, conflict resolution, social skills, or life skills. | Please contact the School Principal or School Based Team to access these services. |
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) | Speech-language pathologists can help with:

Indigenous Education Support Workers (IESW) | With an understanding of — and sensitivity to — the values, beliefs, and needs of students' Indigenous communities and heritage, as well as the needs of the education system, the IESW provides language, cultural and academic support to student who are of aboriginal ancestry.Indigenous Education in SD5 | Students with aboriginal ancestry indicate so on registration with the school. The AESWs are in direct contact with the students and their families. |
Youth Care Workers (YCW) | YCWs improve the school to home connection and help children, youth and families through difficult and challenging situations. They are also a key component of ensuring students eat well and are ready for learning. | Please contact the School Principal or School Based Team to access these services. |
Education Assistants (EA) | EAs are trained to support students with diverse needs in K-12 classrooms. The diverse needs range from medical assistance, personal care, social communication to supporting behavioral change planned for individual students. | EAs are located in classrooms at the discretion of the School Principal. |
